lol late again
Finally got around to uploading the updated Lua documentation for StepMania 4 alpha 5, now that it's out and everything.
If you are on Windows and think StepMania 4 alpha 5's performance sucks, please test shakesoda's build and see if that's still the case. See the moonlight devblog for download links.

casualty
So yeah, System Zero is dead and unsupported. Japan seems to be caring too much about legal crap to have fun and make cool things with StepMania anymore. If this keeps up, I will be less inclined to share my work with others...

sm-ssc private beta wave 1 is out...
...if you signed up and got accepted. I should mention that we're currently not done deciding who all gets in, as there's still around 2 or 3 slots left from the initial submissions.
If you didn't get a submission in, there's still time, since the deadline was extended to December 8th, 2009. Visit the sm-ssc page for more info. (If you already entered a form in, there's no need to resubmit.)

I bring this up since I've updated both the sm-ssc and SM4SVN Lua references. A lot more information was added recently, and now you have access to it.

sm-ssc private beta wave 1 signups open
With THAT out of the way, I figure it's a good idea to let people who visit here and not SSC know about the signup form for sm-ssc being available now. The forms must be emailed by December 1st, 2009. I will be lenient about submissions sent in on that date, but if they're not in by 10pm Central Standard Time (UTC-6), they probably won't be accepted. Hope to see you submit a form!

p.s. - The System Zero page got an update as to where it's going to be heading. Apparently, it's not dead after all.

Lua reference updates
Both the SM4 and sm-ssc Lua references have been updated to show the latest developments in both branches.

Generic Site Update + MKULTRA introduction and progress
I've updated the page slightly... Copyright changed to 2009, links to Lua references made a bit more descriptive, tagline changed... Yeah. Boring things.

The latest KKI development is MKULTRA, which can be summed up as ScreenSelectMusic without using that particular screen as a class. Since SSMusic hooks up a lot of things that music selection screens need, this is a nontrivial task. I will be writing a lot more about this as the implementation is designed/recoded to not be a pain. Currently, it takes a long time to load the screen and any invalid backgrounds will cause a warning/error window to pop up. Once you get to the select screen itself, it looks like this:
MKULTRA selection screen
Why it's called MK2ULTRA in this screenshot will be explained later.

CustomSpeedMods v1.4
The new version of CustomSpeedMods that was bundled with public alpha 3 of moonlight is now available standalone. Since CSM writes a fallback speed mod file for you, I have only included the Lua script.

UserPreferences Released!
UserPreferences is finally released! yay laziness (only the text version is available right now. again. and this time I give you a zip file instead of just the files seperate.)

EnvUtils2 article done
The EnvUtils2 page now has an updated version of the manual on the page. With StepMania 4 in the alpha phase, it is now officially SVN's time to shine. Banner wheel items can now use group banners.
Speaking of banner wheel items and banners, there were some neat developments made a few months back using StepMania 4 CVS. I am confident the technology will port over to the alphas just fine.

p.s. I added links to the Lua references on the menu. They're helpful. Use them.

EnvUtils2 Released!
EnvUtils2 standalone (i.e. not bundled with dubaiOne) is released! yay laziness (only the text version is available right now)

Banner Wheel Exposed!
Three months from the last real update, AJ decides to release a guide to implementing banner wheels in SM4! Check it out in the Research section!

Custom Speed Modifiers!
After months and months of research and hard work, Custom Speed Mods are finally possible. Check it out in the Research section!

Also coming soon are the releases of EnvUtils2 and UserPreferences, addons for SM4 themes that allow you to do many wonderful things! (EnvUtils1 and a prototype of UserPreferences were included in dubaiOne).

KKI Labs opens!
Welcome to the KKI Labs website, the re-imagining of KKI. With a new site and name comes a new focus. KKI Labs is now focusing on StepMania research and experiements. We're confident that the research and experiments we conduct will have a positive effect on the community at large.

While themes made under the KKI banner will still be showcased here, they are now taking a backseat. For those of you who want to know what KKI Labs members are working on in terms of themes, you may want to check out the spinal shark collective, the new group formed by myself and featuring Midiman and shakesoda.

The lab opens with the release of the In-Song Modifiers experiment, available by clicking on "Research" on the right.
