freemco for the love of the game.

The freemco Code contains the principles that freemco follows when developing games. These principles are meant to be helpful to both the player and developer.

It should be noted that the freemco Code is currently incomplete. It should be finished before Family Picross is completed, but don't quote me on that.

The freemco Code

  1. We do not wish to enforce any specific way of playing our games.
  2. The concept of a "street date" in the modern world is for suckers.

These concepts are explained in more detail below.

We do not wish to enforce any specific way of playing our games.

Some publishers and/or developers would like you to play the game the way it was intended. The developers at freemco come from a period in gaming where lots of hidden content and other fun things were hidden in games. (For example, Rareware's Goldeneye 007 for the Nintendo 64.) It was a much different time back then.

Enforcement of a specific way of playing games also extends to making the game do things it isn't supposed to do normally. Some developers wish to prevent these things from happening, despite the fact that their code could support it. The concept of "game breaking" is also well supported at freemco.

The concept of a "street date" in the modern world is for suckers.

With the worldwide spread of the Internet, information can travel very large distances in a short amount of time. This by itself should make the concept of a "street date" outmoded, but various companies wish to stick to it.

We don't believe in "street dates" at freemco. It's the 21st century, let's act like it.
